Seoul Robotics Selected as Top 100 Achievements in National Research and Development in 2023

Jan 15, 2024

Seoul Robotics announced on the 15th that it has been selected as one of the top 100 achievements in national research and development in 2023 by the Ministry of Science and ICT, based on the application case of its industrial autonomous driving software 'Level 5 Control Tower' at BMW's factory in Germany.

The Ministry of Science and ICT selected the top 100 outstanding achievements after evaluating 854 candidate achievements recommended by each ministry through expert evaluations from academia and industry, as well as public verification. Seoul Robotics' Level 5 Control Tower was carried out as part of the strategic technology-based international joint research and development (R&D) project with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

The Level 5 Control Tower is characterized by its ability to enable non-autonomous vehicles to operate like autonomous vehicles. Sensors placed around facilities such as buildings and street lights detect the vehicle's position and obstacles without relying on individual car sensors. The driving plan software sends driving commands to driverless vehicles via wireless communication.

Founded in 2017, Seoul Robotics has secured global automotive companies including BMW as its customers. Since 2022, it has been providing industrial autonomous driving services at the Dingolfing BMW factory in Munich, Germany.

Hanbin Lee, CEO of Seoul Robotics, stated, "We pride ourselves on securing world-class competitiveness in the industrial autonomous driving sector," adding, "We will make 2024 the first year of expanding into the global automotive logistics business sector."
